22 May Letter 22nd May 2020
Dear Horsley & Mapperley families,
This afternoon I have received the latest and REVISED information regarding the phased re-opening of schools. Derbyshire County Council have issued the guidance and as a local authority school we have to follow this in order to ensure that we are taking all necessary precautions and reflecting guidelines set by the local authority.
The key points for our families are that:
- The initial plan to re-open for priority year groups after half term has now been delayed.
- From 1st June we will open to more children of parents who are within the key worker group and those children identified as vulnerable.
- At a later date we may open to the priority year groups
- We will consider other year groups as suggested by the Department for Education & Derbyshire County Council.
I understand that these changes are frustrating, but it is really important that we get this right for everyone in our school communities. We will continue to monitor DfE and DCC guidance and keep you updated.
If you have any questions about this please do contact me. Please download DCC’s statement for your information.
We are also sorry to announce that our residential trip to Lea Green has been cancelled due to the coronavirus epidemic, which I know many of you have paid a deposit. Mrs Elliott has agreed to be by the school gate on Monday 1st June 2020 between 10.00a.m. – 10.30a.m. to give back a cheque to cover what has been paid.
If there is a few people around at the same time, please observe social distancing.
Have a lovely weekend everyone and enjoy the bank holiday/half term break. Stay safe & well,
